3 Crochet Items to Make this Summer

Updated: 22 hours ago

Interest in the fiber arts has been on the rise. At every turn, I see someone making something that they can be proud of. This is not just a hobby or skill for creating desirable items, but it is also a great mental health tool. For that reason, I am so grateful that my mother taught me at a very young age how to crochet, even though the use of my expertise goes in cycles. Fortunately, over the last year, I have fallen back in love with the beauty of crochet, and what better time than the summer to grab the crochet hook. Here are three items I have made so far, and so can you:

Crochet Shirt for Breezy Days: A crochet shirt is a great summer project because it combines comfort with style. I chose a lightweight cotton yarns for this shirt to keep the fabric breathable. The open stitch patterns such as mesh or lace add extra ventilation, making the shirt perfect for warm weather.

Coverup for Poolside or Beach: This crochet coverup is a must-have for summer. It’s easy to make and adds a handmade touch to your swimwear. Choose yarns that dry quickly and feel soft against the skin. Cotton blends are ideal because they are absorbent yet lightweight.

Bookmark for Summer Reading: Summer often means more time for reading, whether on vacation or relaxing at home. A crochet bookmark is a small but thoughtful project that makes a great gift or personal accessory. It’s quick to make and allows you to experiment with colors and textures. This project is perfect for beginners and can be completed in an afternoon.
