Interest in the fiber arts is on the rise. At every turn, I see someone creating a work of art—something to be proud of in a time when instant gratification dominates. What many people do not realize is that fiber arts is not just a hobby or skill that has survived for millennia, but a powerful mental health tool. For that reason, I am so grateful to my mother for teaching me how to crochet me at a very young age, and my public scool teachers in the Caribbean who taught me how to do embroidery.
